June Presidents Message

Published on 6/1/2025
Dear AZ NIGP Members,

Summer is here.  The kids are out of school.  We are getting ready to close one fiscal year and open another.  Good times are here to stay!

The May 13th Chapter Training Meeting featured Gary Barkman and his Cooperative Committee with an update on best practices for cooperative procurement.  The documents and information are available in the document library on the website and feel free to reach out to any committee members if you have questions.  We also had a presentation by our charity, Lost Our Home Pet Rescue.  Our chapter is fully committed to being an active part of our community.

Our crown jewel in May was the Reverse Vendor Trade Show (RVTS) on May 19th at the Tempe Center for Arts on the beautiful shores of Tempe Town Lake.  We filled all the public entities booths. For the first time ever, we sold sponsorships and Lisa Goodman and her team sold them out!  Close to 700 vendors attended and almost 50 public entities were represented.  So many vendors thanked me that day so I am confident the information exchange was valuable and long lasting.  Kudos again to the RVTS Committee and the hard work and dedication to make this show such an overwhelming success.  The bar has been set high for next year.

Mark your calendar and save the date for July 22nd.  For the first time EVER, members of the Capitol Chapter have been invited to attend the Copper Chapter Meeting virtually as they will be hosting.  Our chapter will return the favor on September 16th so save that date too!  This year has been exciting as we ramp up to increase the collaboration between our two chapters.

In case you haven’t heard, we currently have at least a dozen procurement professionals that are members of both chapters! They see the value each chapter brings.  Both chapters do so much to support the public procurement community and it is sensational that we are so willing to help and work with each other.  So stay tuned for more info on both of these FREE professional development opportunities.

Check out the calendar of events on our website to register for upcoming NIGP Courses and opportunities.  Yes, there is still time to register and attend Forum in Denver on July 27th.

Lastly, good luck to all those who have been studying and participating in the CPPO/CPPB review sessions over the last few weeks. We trust you did well and look forward to hearing about members receiving their certificates from our chapter in the near future.

As always, reach out to me anytime for all things AZNIGP!

Thank you and may all your purchasing dreams come true…

Sincerely,

Bill Munch, NIGP-CPP, CPPO, CPPB
AZNIGP 2025 President
